Meet Our Staff

  • Andy Ekblad
    Senior Pastor

Andy grew up in Mercer Island, WA in a large family. After high school Andy attended a Bible school in Sweden. It was there that God became personal, powerful, and real to Andy. Soon after Andy earned a bachelor’s degree in religion and missions at Seattle Pacific University where he also met his beautiful wife Mary. After a few years of travel and work Andy began graduate school at Regent College in Canada earning a Master of Divinity degree followed promptly by a Master in Theology degree from Princeton Seminary.  Andy was ordained as a Minister of Word and Sacrament in 1991. That same year he and Mary became parents and Andy began a six year pastorate at Wenatchee, WA.

The family moved to Fairbanks in August of 1997 to accept the position of Lead Pastor of FPC. Andy has a heart for the lost and the broken and he carries a passion to see lives changed by the transforming power of God’s Word and Spirit.

Andy and Mary now have two daughters, Hannah and Leah. Their eldest, Sarah, who suffered profound disabilities at birth, went to be with her Lord and Savior in the Spring of 2013, at the age of 22.

Andy loves the outdoors. He’s an avid hiker, skier, mountain biker, hunter, fisherman and racquetball player. He and Mary find great joy in their marriage and in being together in the beauty of God’s creation.
